How to use our decking calculator

1. Enter your measurements

Measure the length and width of the area you wish to calculate the decking for. The length and width multiplied together will give you the square meters to enter into the calculator.

2. Select the decking range you’d like to use

Choose from our classic or premium composite decking ranges, depending on your style preferences and budget. Both provide great performance and durability but the Premium decking features our advanced Dino Shield™ technology. This provides increased resistance to moisture, staining, algae and mould, along with added UV protection to reduce colour fade.

3. Select any additional features for your deck

Add any necessary accessories to complete your decking project. This can include items like hidden fasteners to ensure a clean, seamless finish.

4. Review your materials list and estimated cost

The calculator will provide a breakdown of the required materials, including the number of composite decking boards, fixing clips, joists to build a decking frame and accessories like fascia boards and bullnose edging. It will also provide an estimated total cost of your project.

5. Download or share your estimate

Once you’re satisfied with the results, you can download the detailed materials list or share it directly with our team for a final quote and delivery options.

Why choose Dino Decking for your project?

Our attractive and long-lasting composite decking has several benefits compared to traditional timber decking. The combination of recycled wood fibres and plastic materials makes it a tough and durable choice, which is why it comes with a 10-year warranty. It is custom-designed to resist warping, insect infestation, rotting and splintering, and the surface is resistant to mould and mildew.

It also looks great and comes in various colours and easy-to-clean non-slip finishes. It’s eco-friendly (with less demand for virgin timber) and versatile. As the UK’s leading composite decking supplier, we can provide everything you need for your decking project, with fast delivery, and competitive prices. Our expert team is always on hand if you need advice.

Composite Decking Calculator FAQs

How accurate is the Dino's deck board calculator?

Our deck board calculator is designed to give you an accurate estimate based on the dimensions you enter and the materials you select. Based on those figures it provides a precise calculation of the number of boards, accessories and cost of materials. However, actual material needs – and costs – can vary depending on factors such as wastage and unconventional deck shapes. We recommend adding 5-10% to the number of decking boards you order to account for these factors and any cuts you may need to make for a perfect fit.
The number of decking boards you need will, of course, depend on the size of your project. Simply enter the dimensions of the planned decking area into our decking calculator, and it will indicate how many boards you need based on those figures. It is generally best to round up and add 5-10% more boards to allow for wastage and offcuts.
Our composite decking boards come in standard 4-metre lengths. They are 145mm wide and 21mm deep.
Our composite decking is made from a blend of recycled wood fibres and plastic, which provides a more durable, low-maintenance option compared to traditional timber. It is engineered to be resistant to rot, warping and weather damage, making it a great long-lasting choice for your outdoor spaces. Read more in our composite decking vs traditional wood post.
Both ranges are tough, durable and attractive, creating stunning decks that come with a 10-year guarantee. The Premium range also features our Dino Shield™ Technology, which provides even greater weather protection, increased resistance to stains, mould and algae and added UV protection to help prevent colour fade.
Many people choose to install their own decking but others might want to employ a professional installer, especially for more complex decking projects. Our decking cost calculator is great for providing an estimate of the price of the materials required to complete your decking project; however, as Dino Decking does not provide installation, this is not included in the price. Installation fees vary depending not only on the size of the deck but also on factors such as the complexity of the layout and local labour rates. We recommend contacting a professional decking installer to assess your project and provide a detailed cost breakdown before ordering materials.
