Installation and Maintenance Tips

Whether you opt for our classic or premium range decking boards, the installation and maintenance processes are practically the same. So, here are some handy tips that’ll help you install your decking boards perfectly and preserve them for many years to come.

Tips for Installing Your Decking Boards

To install your Dino decking boards correctly, you first need to pick up the correct tools. They include PPE (safety always comes first), tape measure, circular saw or a mitre saw, 60-80 tooth blade, an electric drill, a cordless screwdriver, spirit level, a hammer, and a mallet. <p?Once you have all the necessary tools and equipment, plan the layout of your deck. Then, start preparing your site by clearing it of any debris, grass, or plants that may interfere with the installation process. If the ground is uneven, consider levelling it to ensure proper water drainage. After preparing the site, you can begin the installation process. We recommend that you follow our decking board installation guide closely to make sure that you do an excellent job.

Tips for Maintaining Your Decking Boards

All Dino decking boards for sale require minimal maintenance. So, you won’t need a whole lot of advice or equipment to keep them clean and looking like new. To clean your decking boards, all you need is a brush to sweep away any debris. From time to time, you can also use a pressure washer on a low setting to remove more stubborn debris and dirt particles. And that’s about it. As a side note, we recommend that you never use any harsh chemicals to clean the decking boards as that can ruin their aesthetic. Instead, opt for a combination of soap and water, which will work just fine.

What our Customers Say

5/5
After months of searching and planning we requested decking samples from Dino and one of their competitors. We fell in love with Dino’s mocha decking boards which had a nice deep wood effect texture, and so placed an order which included fascia boards, trim, and fasteners. Everything from Dino arrived exactly when expected and without issue. After fixing the frame, the laying of the decking was a pure joy. Cutting and fastening was really straightforward, using the hidden 6mm fasteners, and the fascias and corner trim give a lovely finishing touch. Really pleased with the end result & all for a reasonable cost, without the need to pay for an expert for fitting.

I had decking boards, joists and fasteners delivered by Krystian. This is my first time using the decking boards and so far I'm very happy with the quality of the material. The driver was not just very helpful with the delivery but also very knowledgeable about the product and offered some useful installation tips! Great stuff!

Fantastic service. From placing order to receiving my classic style (Ash) decking boards within 2 days. I made my subframe today with C24 4x2 timbers and started laying the decking boards. A perfectly looking deck with the first 10 boards fixed into position. Realised I’m short and under estimated the fixings so called through to Laura who arranged for an additional pack to be posted asap. Overall a fantastic service and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting decking boards from a reliable source.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Choose the Right Decking Board for My Project?

To choose the right decking board for your project, the first thing you need to do is measure the area to determine exactly how many decking boards you’ll need. Then, you should start thinking about your budget as decking board prices can vary.

Once you’re set on how much money you want to spend on decking boards, you can start shopping around. To give you an example of the price you can expect to pay, grey decking boards from our classic range, for example, start at £23.99 while any of the decking boards from our premium range start at £32.99 per length.

When trying to decide how much to spend, we recommend going for value for money over opting for the cheapest decking boards you can find as often times, you get exactly what you pay for.

The next thing you need to think about is the aesthetic that you want to achieve in your outdoor area. Once you have an answer to all of the above, choosing the right decking boards for your project will be much easier.

If you’re considering Dino’s decking boards for your project, order one of our free sample packs today. That way, you’ll get to see and feel what our decking boards are like before you spend your hard-earned money.

That would depend on how the decking boards are used and the weather conditions that they are exposed to over the years. To give you complete peace of mind, when you buy decking boards from Dino Decking, each board comes with a 10-year warranty.

The exact maintenance you’ll need to carry out to preserve your decking boards will depend on the material that they’re made out of. For example, if you buy fibre cement decking boards, you can maintain them the same way you would your drive and any other part of your garden where concrete is present. That generally involves the use of a strong pressure washer and various other equipment. In most cases, you’ll need to call out a professional as most of the equipment can be quite costly. When it comes to our composite decking boards, the maintenance process you need to follow is very different. Since our decking boards are resistant to the build up of mould, stains, and debris (especially the ones from our premium range), to maintain them, all you need to do is sweep them or use a garden hose or a pressure washer on a low setting every now and again. That’s all that is required to keep them looking clean.

A decent number of customers who buy garden decking boards from us end up installing them without the help of a professional. If you want to have a go at installing your decking boards on your own, you can refer to our decking board installation guide, which will walk you through the whole process.

On the other hand, if you don’t feel confident in your abilities or don’t have the necessary tools, you can always look for a professional installation company for decking boards in the UK (ideally one that operates nearby you).
